Our independence standard
Expertise informs the review. TPI makes the decision.
Issue Expert organizations contribute research, subject-matter expertise, and public records. Texans for Public Integrity independently controls its methodology, evidence standards, scoring, corrections, and publication decisions.
What Issue Experts may contribute
Issue Experts may submit research, subject-matter expertise, and public records for review. Policy analysis can add context, but it is not an official source or a Texans for Public Integrity scoring conclusion.
Contributions are reviewed against the same published evidence standards as other material.
What remains TPI’s responsibility
TPI alone controls evidence qualification, methodology, scoring, corrections, rankings, and publication.
Issue Experts may not assign points, require a score change, select weights, suppress qualifying evidence, or edit rankings.
A politician supported by an Issue Expert remains eligible for a negative score. A political opponent remains eligible for positive credit.
Evidence and corrections
The record should stay accountable, too.
When the verified record changes, the public-facing record should change with it.
To contact TPI about a correction or evidence for review, use the official TPI social channels in the footer. This page does not provide a dedicated submission form. TPI retains responsibility for reviewing the record and deciding whether a correction is warranted.
